There are lots of things you need to be aware of to maintain high levels of safety when working around cranes. It’s not always the same either, as if you are working with a smaller crane the safety concerns will be quite different than when working with a jumbo crane.
When building a really tall building, you need a similarly sized crane to be able to construct the frame of the building. As you’ll be lifting I-beams which will way a couple of tonnes each, you will typically see an area around the crane inaccessible, so that should one of the beams fall nobody will get injured. They also actually have flashing lights at the top of the crane, so that any incoming aircraft will be alerted to their presence.
Even with all of the sensible precautions being made, cranes are still very dangerous bits of equipment, so treating them with the respect that demands is a must. You can expect to see many of the safety concerns compounded during stormy, high wind, weather, for those working in and around the crane.
